CARBON FIBER FACTS
CARBON IN ABUNDANCE
Each and every one of us are made of carbon, this element is one of the most bountiful on the planet. The human body is made up of just four elements: oxygen, carbon, hydrogen and nitrogen, with a lot of that in the form of water.
CARBON FIBER
Also known as graphite fiber is composed mostly of carbon atoms fibers around 5–10 μm in diameter, carbon atoms are bonded together in crystals that are aligned parallel to the long axis of the fiber. Thousands of fibers are then twisted together to form a yarn. When combined with other materials such as plastic resign and baked it forms a carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer often referred to as carbon fiber.
STRONG
Carbon fiber is said to be five times stronger than steel and twice as stiff, materials are lightweight, very high in strength, and have good impact resistance making it hugely popular and desirable.
APPEARANCE
Its sleek appearance and unique woven texture give it a feeling of timeless luxury. Carbon Fiber is the new go to product for manufacturers.
PRODUCTS
Thanks to its low density and incredible strength, you will likely find it used in aircraft wings and fuselages, helicopter blades, propeller blades, car components, bike frames, sporting goods, prosthetic limbs, aerospace, military, drones and just about anything you can imagine.
THICKNESS
Carbon fibre is smaller and thinner than the average human hair.
INVENTOR
Carbon fibre might seem like a fairly new innovation, however, it’s actually been around since 1860. It was the creation and brainchild of Joseph Swan used in early production of an incandescent light bulb.
21 st CENTURY DREAM MATERIAL
Looking into the future, carbon fiber will continue to make a significant contribution in the world we live in. This ultra-light weight product with unprecedented strength characteristics, makes it the dream material for the 21 century.
